Kegel Fun: About & How To!

Kegel balls are the modern alternative to the ancient Geisha balls, and are used to strengthen a woman’s pelvic floor muscles in her vagina.

Exercising your pelvic floor muscles helps tighten your vagina, better bladder control and can lead to heightened sexual stimulation for both partners - some of the best kegel balls and Ben Wa Balls we have are from Doc Johnson.

Whichever brand you go with, ensure when you are inserting your kegel balls for the first time, or while your pelvic muscles are still weak, lie down on your back and relax your legs.

Apply as much lubricant as you need to feel comfortable and insert the ball(s) vertically one at a time.

Allow the attached string or cord to hang out, much like a tampon.

This process should not hurt! Go at your own pace, and if you are experiencing any pain or discomfort, try masturbating beforehand to relax.

Once the kegels are resting in a comfortable place, your vagina’s muscles will naturally hold the balls in place.

Start by wearing the kegels around the house for 5-10 minutes, contracting your muscles every 3 second and then releasing.

The moving weights inside the kegels and gravity will do the rest of the work.

You can eventually graduate to wearing the kegels for longer times throughout the day (aim for 30 minutes) or while exercising to maximize their effect.

While it may sound like a lot of work, don’t be fooled! Kegels are just as much a sex toy as they are an excising tool.

Put your kegels in before your partner arrives home from work and you will begin to notice their natural benefits for your body such as increased stimulation, sensitivity and lubrication.

Steps Simplified:

  1. Apply generous amount of water based lube.
  2. Lie on your back, relax your legs.
  3. Insert kegel one at a time, allowing retrieval string to hang down outside the vagina.
  4. Contract your muscles every 3 second, release. Repeat.
  5. Remove my gently pulling on the retrieval cord
  6. ALWAYS clean the kegels with toy cleaner or warm soapy water after every use.

  • Great for women with weak pelvic muscles
  • Look for kegels made from Silicone or Plastic (easiest to keep clean)
  • Always use a quality lubricant
  • Go at your own pace!
